Outlaw Mutual Aid

Serving Greater Kansas City

Nobody's free until everybody's free.

Fannie Lou Hamer

We do not believe the scarcity myth, that tells us there is not enough to go around. We want to encourage the sharing of resources in our community, especially during crisis, because we know that some of us may have more than we need, while others not enough. Small emergency-related cash donations have been proven to have a significant impact on individuals and families in times of crisis.
If you find yourselves with an abundance of resources/money/etc during this time, we highly encourage you to share, and to donate funds directly to a neighbor through this app. We believe the words of Fannie Lou Hamer, "Nobody's free until everybody's free."
We want to connect as many individuals to funding as possible, so please consider the following when making a request:
  • Requests under $150 are most likely to be filled, and the likelihood increases as the amount decreases. Please do not make requests above $300. If your request exceeds $300, you may want to check out other Kansas City COVID-19 Resources here
  • Include a personal message! Your request can remain anonymous, but folks are more likely to donate if they have a clear, detailed understanding of your request. Try to be specific, but concise. We recommend 5-7 sentences.
  • In order to assist as many individuals as possible, we must limit it to one request per individual. We are also limiting the app to 10 open requests at a time. If we are at capacity, you will not be able to make a request. As soon as more requests are filled, spots will open up and you may submit yours.
  • Please note that no payments can be made through our app. The app is a tool to connect folks to one another. We ask that you complete the required forms and confirm you've been paid so we are able to handle any errors. The payments will be made directly to your neighbor via Paypal, Venmo, Cash App, Google Pay, or Apple Pay. We need all users to double check that payments have gone through, and ask that you follow the confirmation steps we have in place.

If you prefer to make a tax-deductible donation, you may do sohere. We will use these donations to disperse to emergency cash requests that have not yet been filled.
